THE PROBLEM
The planet can be a hostile place for animals due to natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, droughts, tornadoes, and volcanic eruptions. In addition, there are human-caused disasters such as pollution, predation, habitat loss, and the accelerating pace of climate change.
These disasters can cause massive loss of life among humans, as well as wild, farm, companion, and working animals. Their deaths not only cause us great emotional pain, but also disrupt the balance of nature and generate significant economic losses.
Argentina, like almost all countries in our region, lags behind in considering animal welfare in its legislation, which generates large and numerous challenges to ensure animal welfare, especially in the context of disaster.
Scientific studies indicate that climate change exacerbates the severity and frequency of disasters, while United Nations calculations indicate that for every dollar invested in prevention, we save $15 spent on disaster response.
The time to act is now!
THE MISSION
Our mission is to strengthen disaster preparedness, planning, and response in Argentina and Latin America by promoting the effective inclusion of animals through education, training, and specialized consulting. We work alongside communities, organizations, institutions, and governments to develop real capacities that allow for the ethical, responsible, and safe integration of animals into risk management plans.
Through our services, we aim to transform knowledge into action, supporting informed and sustainable decision-making processes. We believe that a truly comprehensive disaster response is only possible with professional tools, appropriate training, and technical advice that enable the protection of both people and animals before, during, and after an emergency.

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”
Mahatma Gandhi

ABOUT US
My name is Ana Carola Terrazas, and I founded Animal Inclusion in Disasters after witnessing how, time and again, animals are the silent victims of our actions and inaction. This pain and frustration led me to question what I could do in the face of this reality, and I decided to combine my passion for animals with my professional background. I hold a master's degree in risk and disaster management from Canada and have a decade of experience working in this field internationally.
We all have the capacity to be agents of positive change for the planet, and I choose to raise awareness, inspire action, and educate for animal welfare at a critical time such as a large-scale disaster.
